LEVEL 1 REC | AVALANCHE FUNDAMENTALS FOR BACKCOUNTRY SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDERS
This intensive course is a comprehensive introduction to avalanche phenomena as it relates to backcountry skiers and snowboarders. The course format will emphasize practical avalanche awareness and safety measures through hands-on learning. The entire backcountry course will be based in Ketchum and the field portion in the mountains of the Wood River headwaters. The course format will comprise a mix of classroom theory and field practice while ski touring and evaluating avalanche terrain. Students will receive a certification for completion of a Level 1 Avalanche Training Course as outlined by the American Avalanche Association. Course text included.

LEVEL 1 AVALANCHE FUNDAMENTALS REFRESHER
This 2 day (12 hour) course is beneficial for individuals looking to refresh their avalanche rescue, terrain evaluation, group management and snow-pack observation skills. Specifically designed for persons who have previously attended a Level 1 course within 3 years, participants will review and update skills necessary to tour and ski safely in the backcountry. The course format will emphasize practical avalanche awareness and safety measures through hands-on learning during two day-long tours in the backcountry near Ketchum, Idaho.

LEVEL TWO AVALANCHE PROCESS & LEADERSHIP
This 4-day course is for people who have taken a Level 1 avalanche course and have applied this knowledge for at least a full season. Designed primarily for winter guides and advanced recreationalists, this course is ideally suited for those who lead others in avalanche terrain. A blend of classroom sessions and field application will emphasize hands-on skills development and leadership methods in avalanche terrain.
Participants for this course must have previously taken a Level 1 Avalanche Course and have one or more seasons of experience making decisions in avalanche terrain. Participants should be proficient in beacon use, topographic map reading, and should have advanced ski/snowboard ability. Course curriculum follows guidelines of the American Avalanche Association.

LEVEL 1 AVALANCHE FUNDAMENTALS: ALL WOMEN'S HUT-BASED COURSE
This Level 1 Course emphasizes practical avalanche awareness and safety measures while ski touring and evaluating avalanche terrain and snowpack. The all women’s classroom allows for an inclusive and non-competition based atmosphere that encourages deeper understanding and assessment of the terrain and conditions for women adventurers. The backcountry hut experience allows students to be deeply immersed in the curriculum and provides the opportunity to work one-on-one with the instructors. The course curriculum meets the standards of the American Avalanche Association, and students will receive a certificate of course completion. Course fees include guiding and instruction, hut lodging, all catered meals, food portered to the hut and the Level 1 Course Workbook. The course typically begins Friday morning 8am in Ketchum, ID. Students return to Ketchum on Sunday by 5pm.
